R3 and ripe.io partner towards adoption of blockchain

Ripe Technology, Inc. shared the news that it would be partnering with R3, a global enterprise blockchain software firm to improve trust in the food supply chain. This development was on 19 June.

Ripe Technology conveyed information that the move would be towards digitization and enterprise adoption of blockchain. Ripe Technology added that through this collaboration, the company would make use of R3’s Corda Enterprise and Microsoft Azure. This was in a bid to serve its growing food and agricultural customer base. Ripe Technology commented that a salient feature of the Corda Enterprise platform was its scalability and data privacy management.

David E. Rutter, CEO, and founder of R3 added –

Ripe Technology expressed that through the effective use of R3’s platform, both the companies stand benefited to leverage distributed ledger systems for the food supply chain. The blockchain company further added that with such systems, consumers are benefited to be aware of the origin, the journey, and quality of their food. Ripe Technology commented on the novel entry for R3 which now ventures into food and agriculture ecosystem.

Ripe Technology indicated that by using Corda ecosystem, the company’s food and agriculture supply chain participants would be a part of the world’s largest companies already using the R3 platform. Such organizations include technology firms, central banks and trade associations. Ripe Technology clarified that Microsoft would extend a helping hand with cloud technology for data and security.

In January, the firms SBI and R3 struck a chord by announcing partnership towards the adoption of Corda blockchain in Japan. The joint mission envisioned to bring distributed ledger technologies (DLT) to a platform like Corda. The firms looked forward to fostering the usage of Corda Enterprise.
