iCap Equity leveraging Harbor's blockchain tech

Harbor announced on 16 September that iCap Equity is leveraging Harbor’s blockchain-enabled alternative assets platform in four real estate funds.

Harbor Platform is a blockchain-enabled technology platform that improves the investment experience for investors, issuers and placement agents. Services include investor communications, fundraising management, and controlled secondary transfers through marketplaces. Harbor is backed by Founders Fund, Andreessen Horowitz, Craft Ventures, Vy Capital, Fifth Wall, Valor Equity Partners, and Pantera Capital.

iCap Equity is a real estate investment firm that provides capital to small to medium-sized builders and developers through its innovative Bridge Equity Model. Harbor noted that this model provides builders with the financing they need, and investors with high, fixed-rates of return.

Harbor commenced by informing that the development was to enhance liquidity while managing over 100 million U.S. dollars in assets. The firm sustained by adding that through a new private marketplace, more than 1,100 investors and 17 placement agents of iCap Equity could safely buy or sell iCap securities with one another.

Chris Christensen, iCap Equity CEO cited –

“iCap provides high-yield investment opportunities for investors, but those investments typically come with a 3 to 5 year lock-up period because they are based in real estate. Now, with Harbor, we are able to provide the same strong returns, but also an option for investors to more easily liquidate if desired. It provides the best of both worlds, and is a game-changer for not only real estate-based investments, but the entire alternative investment industry.”

Harbor maintained that iCap Equity, through its equity model, provides an attractive source of capital to builders and developers. There is also a commitment of delivering high fixed rates of return to investors. Harbor conveyed that supported property types include multifamily, mixed-use, single-family residences, light commercial, and condominiums. Harbor summarized that the funds pay a fixed monthly interest rate while offering a variety of yields.
